About UsWe are an all First Nations robotics team from Wiikwemikoong Unceded First Nation, located on Manitoulin Island. Our team is a diverse group of Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi heritage with mostly female members. Team 5672 also works to help inspire young First Nations women to get involved in STEM careers. Our hope is to also inspire more First Nations peoples to be involved in STEM, as we mentor multiple FLL teams and helped start another Manitoulin FRC team, Team 6865.
Our HistoryOur rookie year was 2014-2015. We had never even seen a First Robotics event, we had every conceivable thing go wrong that could, we built a working robot we competed, and we truly surprised ourselves. Ever since then we have competed in two district events every year and have significantly increased members in our small school.
We had never made it past quarter finals until the 2019 Waterloo District event, where we we not only won Chairman's, but won the competition as a whole along with alliance members 3683, Team DAVE, and 2056, OP Robotics. |
